Black theme helps battery ?

I have been a user of Samsung flagship since the Note 4. During those days I used to feel that dark themes give better battery backup. Now I don't feel any difference in using stock theme and dark themes on my Note 8 and S8plus..

Have you guys experienced significant changes between light and dark themes ?
