Android 9 release timeframe confirmed by Samsung

Samsung confirmed today that it’s going to launch the open beta program for Pie later this month. It will be launched in the United States, South Korea and Germany initially. Other European and Asian countries will get the beta after that.

Android 9 brings a new user interface for the company’s devices called One UI. It’s a complete reinvention of the user experience on its devices. You wouldn’t find the kind of UI that Samsung has created on any other Android device right now. It also adds a system-wide night mode to the device.

The beta program will provide Samsung with valuable feedback which it will use to further improve the Android 9 update before rolling it out. Samsung has said the Android 9 release will take place in January 2019 for the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9/S9 Plus. These devices will obviously be the first to get this update. Others will get it in the following months.
