I would like to inquire how to unlock pattern without formatting my phone samsung galaxy note 5 because I have important contacts and some personal references and data that I don't want to lose. Please advice asap. I am really in need of help right now. Thanks
Unfortunately, you have to connect it with a PC or a laptop, and if your previous settings with you laptop is to transfer files. If the laptop doesn't allow you to transfer files then you have to unlock it change the settings from the notification bar. However, as your device is locked so there isn't a chance of transferring.
Other method is to use samsung Account to unlock it. If you have your old Samsung account linked to the note 5, then you can still unlock. If not then there isn't a way to unlock.
Final method is using lost my phone by Google. However, there isn't much you can do but, wipe your data and make your device sound like a alarm.

No need for a laptop or PC! If you have you email and password, you can go to google Find my phone, or samsung: Find my mobile online site. From there you can unlock the device
