Galaxy Note1. Turn ON always on display, choose "home button and clock" and "then tap to show".
2. Now turn off the phone with the physical button.
3. Then touch the screen, the clock appears. Under it, there is the virtual key.
4. Turn on the phone with the virtual key.
Check if your screen issue persists after this?
Also have you tried starting the phone in Safe Mode?
