Galaxy NoteI was struggling with this and found the answer today. I hope you found the answer earlier, but I'll tell you what I found tonight anyway.
Go to settings, Accessibility, Interaction and dexterity. You need to have assistant menu turned on, as well as single tap to swipe on. For some reason if assistant menu is off, single tap to swipe doesn't work, which seems silly to me.
If you find the accessibility menu button on your home screen annoying, you can hold down on it and move it to some other part of your screen, or hold down and move it to the top where an X appears saying "hide here". You can also hide status notification in accessibility. Hope that helped.
