Ever since the new update, every time I try to shazaam something, I get an error saying the mic is in use.

Hi, Long press the Shazaam icon > Select the "i" sign > Permissions > Make sure that you have granted a permission for the microphone to be used

Go to Settings > Privacy > click on Permission Manager > Microphone, you can check the apps that have access to you microphone

I have the same. Just google. But before the update, it was working perfectly.

like the warning says there might be another app running and is using your mic

Please be informed that it means another is app running and using your mic. Please try to uninstall the latest downloaded app, or you can call us on the call center number and ask for remote assitance.

Found the solution, you have to allow background activity in the battery tab of the Shazaam app.
