Samsung is testing software version N950FXXU5DRK4 for the Note 8 at the moment. Oreo-based Galaxy Note 8 firmware carry the CRxx format for the last four letters of the software version, so a move from C to D (the first of those four letters) suggests the new software is a major upgrade. It could be a big feature update instead of Pie, but that’s rather unlikely considering Samsung will already have its work cut out with implementing One UI on its flagships.
Also, a photo has been surfaced online showing the Note 8 chinese variant (SM-G95550) running on the latest Pie 9.0. The image was obtained from Wifi Alliance's website after the certification process. So, yeah, Android 9 update for Note 8 might arrive sooner than you expect. Hold onto your horses!
Most definitely there will be. With night sight feature (AI based improvement for dark and low lit shots) from Google for its Pixel devices, Samsung will hopefully adapt and implement their own night sight experience on Galaxy devices' camera, atleast on flagships. 🤞
