Galaxy Note1) Try another sim in your phone, if that works fine then no issue with the phone and go for sim replacement.
2) Try the same sim in another phone (preferably Android), if it is working then there's some issue with the phone in which case visit a service center.
3) if it doesn't work in another phone also then go for sim replacement.
4) try rubbing eraser on the chip of ur sim and then re-insert it in the phone.
