A patent granted to Samsung by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reveals that the S-Pen stylus the company bundles with its Note-series phablets may some day double-up as a camera with optical zoom hardware.
Believed to have been first spotted by Patently Mobile, the patent document details how the device will include "a lens and an image sensor ... (and) a control board ... so that an optical zoom is controlled from the external electronic device".
"The electric pen device may further include a control key inside a housing or a cover of the electric pen device to control an optical zoom of the optical system", said the document.
