The answer is pretty simple:
1.) Android 9 Pie official announce date was 08 May 2018 and the release date was 06 August 2018.
2.) Samsung J6 was launched on 22 May 2018. This means that the phone was launched post the announcement date and hence was very much in line to receive the update later.
3.) Since the Samsung J6 you bought was manufactured in May 2019, the phone was preinstalled with Android 9 Pie firmware as stock firmware. This was very possible as the phone manufactured 8 months after the release of Android 9 Pie is too much time to not have a stock firmware with the latest OS.

I hope the explanation was clear, if not...let me know. I will try to rephrase in a better approach!

OK it's clear now to me and I understand much better now. I just wish the phone gets the android 10 update. I have seen other Samsung galaxy versions which dates back as from 2017 gets the android 9 pie update and I was quite surprised how can this happen..

Hi there,
Please perform the following steps:
> If any screen guard/tampered glass/protection film is available then first disable the fingerprint settings and then remove the screen guard.
> Once screen guard is removed now register the fingerprint again and check the issue
> If problem does not get resolved, run the device in Safe mode and reconfigure the fingerprint.
> If issue still persists, create data backup and reset the device.
> Make sure to use the central fingerprint parts evenly when you register or scan fingerprint, so that all portions of fingerprint, including the center and corners have been fully scanned.
Nevertheless if you still have similar problems while registering or scanning your fingerprints, please visit to the authorized Samsung service center with device and have it inspected for further resolution.
