👋 brand new m31 with new sd card that will not format.
It gets to the formatting 20% page then does nothing for ages then goes to Samsung logo freeze until I reboot.
Any ideas how to fix please or is it a duff card?

Try formatting it. Or if the problem continues visit a certified Samsung Service Center.
