Is the phone software updated at Samsung service center or not?

Not needed. Why to go to service center in COVID-19 time?
You can update via your phone only but use good WiFi or 4G connection.
You can also use your PC. Install Samsung Smart Switch App and connect your mobile via data cable. Put phone in file transfer mode.
Smart Switch will show if update it available.
Please note that smart switch app on pc will download full image for update and it is generally much larger in size in FOTA update done via phone directly.
So update via Smart switch will take longer time and more data Vs if you do directly on phone.
