Samsung is no more reliable when it comes to software updates after the delay of ONEUI 7 update. Now, Samsung has abruptly revoked security updates to its old device, the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G.

The above-mentioned device was released in April 2021 and was assured to get 4 years of security updates from Samsung. However, Samsung has broken this commitment and reduced the software support to just 3 years and 7 months.

Yes! The Galaxy M42 last received an update in November 2024. What good is it getting security updates 6 months late, especially when we're talking about essential security patches? I had assumed that even if the update frequency was lengthy, the device would still be supported. But what Samsung did was stop applying security patches months before its software support is even supposed to end.

Let me forget about them being generous or giving extended updates; at the very least, they could have provided a security update with the April or at least the May security patch. But no, Samsung wants to prove that it is no longer committed to keeping its users secure. It has abruptly removed its support for the M42.

I have decided to move to a different OEM which provides monthly security updates, unlike Samsung (Scamsung).

Better to buy Samsung S series and get 7 years of major & security updates. The flagship oneui experience is far better than M series.

I also hoped there will be one last update this year. Such a dissapointment.
