M31, a medium price ranged phone released to compete with Xiaomi & Realmi devices. Though its price is almost as same as Realme X2, Redmi Note 9,9 pro, Realme 6, 6 pro etc budget phones, it doesn't come with a snapdragon process and on display fingerprint sensor.
The first look of the phone is quite ordinary. A big display with an old fashioned back panel. The 6.4 inch s-amoLED display is amazing. It is colourful enough.
M31 promises us a super 64 Megapixel Quad Camera setup with a big 6000 mah battery. The camera is good, atleast good in enough light. The night mode or low light photos are extremely ordinary and there is nothing special. You won't be able to use G Cam in it and the Custom Camera wont give you good low light photos. In day time you will get some good clicks. The photos will be very colourful and it will charm your eyes.
Samsung disappoints the users in the battery section. The grand 6000 mah battery doesn't supply power as promised. There is problem with optimisation. The battery drains heavily during video calls. The battery performs like a 4000mah battery and it is an open secret. Almost every users are complaining about the backup and samsung should do something. Atleast an update fixing a portion of this backup problem will be nice.
• Also the battery usage option is pretty useless. It doesn't show the system usage. The app datas shown are also inaccurate. The usage option doesnt show battery performance from the last time it was charged. This is very disappointing in 2020.
The Main problem: M31 device has a secret feature about which samsung doesn't advertises. It has an internal heater. A heater which can be turned on very easily. Let me discuss in points.
[ ] Whenever the device is charged for a long time, it gets heated. The temperature increases reapidly. And long means above 45+ minutes. Disappointing, right?
[ ] The phone will start burning if the camera is used for a long time. Also the battery drains heavily while using camera.
[ ] Whenever mobile data is turned on the phone starts heating. With a little less network you will get a Hand Iron for ironing your clothes.
[ ] The phone heats whenever it is used after turning on after keeping it switched off. It gets hot within moments after turning it on.
[ ] M31 behaves well in WiFi, but also a little gaming and video call will increase its temperature to a high level.
Solution?:No there isnt any solution. Yes it is possible to minimize the heating by using some tips & tricks, but I dont think someone will buy a new phone to use tricks that are used on an old phone.
Samsung Helpline will suggest some ideas like turn off background apps and etc bullshits, but whom are we joking. The phone has a heating problem and Samsung must admit it. The solutions doesnt work and you are stuck with a burning set .The best Samsung can do now is to fix the problem by giving some quality updates.
And without that the M31 users will have to use the phone with a broken heart.
