Recommended way to update

I have heared someone say that Updating via FOTA isn't recommended way. Can anyone explain the technicalities behind this, and why we shouldn't update via FOTA?

Also please provide what are the recommended ways to do so.

If your phone is showing you FOTA update. Go for it. its safe.
if you install it manually then it is not FOTA and is not recommended

I was referring to Firmware update and the process of doing so

someone says only because
sometimes slow network or delayed in network may cause some issues but not always.
so try to update if your network is good or use wifi
other than this no problem at all
i am updating through fota since i started using smart phone
so don't worry brother

in my opinion we shouldn't be thinking about that at all
we shall simply update like earlier .
if company pushes fota update means nothing wrong about it at all.
also company recommended update through wifi means this is also safe.
so as per my understanding nothing wrong or bad to update via net or wifi.
and majority of people doing in the same way.
at the same time I don't say wrong to those who recommended to update via odin or smart switch as that is good in their perspective.

conclusion is
via net or wifi is also a safe way but only to take care is it should be decent speed.
but if one has an option to updates through odin or smart switch go ahead.
but if there is no option or didn't know about those process or having any confusion then simply update as before.
and so many people also facing issue even after update via smart switch
