with this they will suspend updates for galaxy m40. Waiting for custom roms to be released

Currently their is no support for custom rom of M40.
If you want, you pull the latest branch of lineage os, M40 kernel & Samsung source code for M40.

In addition you need atleast 16GB RAM linux system that you can achieve it with 1 year free $ credit Google Cloud.
