Samsung had started teasing a newer version of the Galaxy M21 last week. Today, the company has finally launched the Galaxy M21 2021 Edition, which brings a newer design and an updated camera sensor. The smartphone will be available in India in two colors, exclusively through Amazon. It is priced at INR 12,499 (around $170) and it can be purchased starting July 26, 2021.
The Galaxy M21 2021 Edition (SM-M215G) is largely similar to the original Galaxy M21. It features the same 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ resolution, Gorilla Glass 3 front protection, and a plastic body. However, its rear design is different compared to the Galaxy M21. It has diagonal lines and it comes in two colors: Arctic Blue and Charcoal Black. It has a fingerprint reader at the rear. It is equipped with the 10nm Exynos 9611 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot.
It has a 20MP selfie camera and a 48MP triple-camera setup at the rear. The 48MP camera sensor has been upgraded to the ISOCELL Bright GM2, which can capture true 48MP images. The phone also has an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP depth sensor. It is powered by a 6,000mAh battery and supports up to 15W fast charging. Its connectivity features include GPS, a dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Samsung hasn’t specified which version of Android runs on the Galaxy M21 2021 Edition out of the box. If it comes with Android 11, it will receive two major Android updates in the future, which means that it will get the Android 13 update, while the Galaxy M21 won’t.
