After Google app, now Google play services app consuming battery

you can't stop google play services background activity, as it is priority software and it is needed for android to run properly.

it still taking battery in background but at least it stops when phone is in idle

I don't think its is possible but if you have a option in your phone. don't do it. it is very critical app it will cause problems.

this is usual , google services usually active in background most of the time while android system is on

open your setting -(apps)- google play service- Mobile data- and disable background data usage
