Galaxy J7 Prime was launched with Android Marshmallow 6.0 .It had got Android Nougat upgrade and Android Oreo upgrade. So it can not get the Pie upgrade or 3rd major OS upgrade.

The device is now working On Android Version 8.1 Oreo. I think Android Oreo is better than Android Pie. After the Android Pie upgrade many Samsung devices became slower.If you need the Pie upgrade then download custom rom from xda developer.

But In recent chat with Samsung Human assistant they confirmed that they are working on the Pie upgrade for the device. GSM Arena also says that the device is eligible for the Pie upgrade.

Yes As Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is similar product of Galaxy J7 Prime so the news is for Galaxy J7 Prime.
