I would like to know if Samsung has stopped supporting the J5 (2016) with operating system updates?

The last update was the 7.1.1 some time ago. Will there be any new updates for this phone from Samsung or is that the end of everything? (It seems quite a few years since 7.1.1 and the technology is getting left behind).

When did Samsung publicly state they would stop supporting the phone with updates after 7.1.1? Please would you show me the proof?

There is no official statement but as per update policy by samsung this device was eligible for 2 yeras of android update and 3 years of security updates and they are already provided by samsung.

As the privacy policy of samsung it already got all major updates, it is a very old phone for new software updates now.
