These are harmless to humans and even considered beneficial for gardeners and agriculture. Both the larvae and adult forms are predatory on various soft bodied insect pests of plants like aphids, mealy bugs, thrips and mites. They feed on insect pests by a process called extra-oral digestion in which they hunt and capture insects and then pierce into them with sharp mouth parts and inject digestive enzymes into the prey, then they **bleep** up the liquified contents from insects leaving behind a mummified exoskeleton of the prey.
