Sigiriya Rock, also known as the Lion Rock, is a historic rock fortress located in central Sri Lanka. Renowned for its significant archaeological importance, it rises dramatically 200 meters above the surrounding plains. This UNESCO World Heritage site features ancient frescoes, a network of gardens and reservoirs, and a palace ruin on its summit, thought to have been built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century AD. Sigiriya is celebrated for its complex urban planning, engineering, hydraulic technology, and art of the early Sri Lankan Civilization.
