aparture denoted for opening depth of any camera lence to enter amount of light inside lence... less aparture means more light entrances...as an example f/1.9 capture more bright photography than F/2.7....because of more light entrances inside lence
also a higher aperture is better in bright light as it takes in lesser light. The s series has a variable aperture camera which uses f 2.4 in sunlight and f 1.5 in low light conditions
