Not dark mode. Blue light filter. There is mixed report on that. Some says it is harmful some says not.

there are studies that say different things.
important point to protect your eyes will using smartphone.
1. Try holding yours at least 16 to 18 inches away from your eyes to give youreyes a break. It might feel funny at first but shouldn't take long to get used to.
2. Follow 20-20-20 rule. The concept is to take a break from looking at your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds while looking at something 20 feet away. This will relax eyes muscles.
3. Blink more and more while using phones as it will protect from dryness of eyes.

There are studies that show that your eyes will feel less strain when reading black letters on white rather than white letters on black.
That is why we have black letters on white number plate and not opposite.
Dark mode is easy on your battery not on your eyes.
Dark mode should only be used in dark room only. Not even under a single light.
