I'm also facing the same issue, and only happening when set to "tap to show" its dosen't showing.

To resolve the issue please follow the below mentioned steps:

>Reset the device settings by navigating to Settings >> General Management >> Reset >> Reset Settings.

>Navigate to settings>lock screen> always on display> enable>show always.

>Check your device performance in Safe mode.
