Facing one major problem with Samsung A33 5G, that is due to virtual proximity sensor malfunctioning my mobile keeps try to unlock in pocket and gets locked for 1/2/5/10/60 minutes based on unsuccessful attempts. Due to this mobile can't be used when you are in emergency.

This is weird and big concern for this mobile. Why Samsung uses virtual sensor instead hardware sensor. My last Samsung A50 never had this problem.

Please solve this problem asap.
I have setup 4 digit lock password to unlock.

Dear Samsung Customer,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

Thank you for sharing your concern. We acknowledge your query and apologize for the same. And please follow the easy troubleshooting steps which might help to solve the issue.

https://www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/how-does-the-proximity-sensor-works/
1. Proximity sensor:
It is placed near the earpiece of a phone. During a call, this sensor lets the system know that you're most probably in a call and that the screen has to be turned off.
1. From a Home screen, tap Phone (lower-left).
2. Tap Menu.
3. Tap Call settings or Settings. If needed, tap Call on the settings page.
4. Tap Turn off screen during calls to enable or disable. Enabled when a checkmark is present.
2. If the still issue persists, kindly remove accessories.
Protective films, cases, stickers, or glass screen protectors can block the sensor. Only use Samsung-approved accessories.
Clean the sensor with a soft cloth.
The proximity sensor is located at the top of the phone, its exact position will vary by model. Clean the front of the device with a clean, soft cloth.

. Update software: Menu>apps>settings>software update>install.
. If the issue has not been resolved then reset the device:
Apps>settings> general management>reset.
Note:- Kindly create a data backup of your device via smart switch mobile application or http://www.samsung.com/in/support/smartswitch pc suite.
Remember the google password before resetting the device because it is required during the initial setup.
. Factory data reset: Reset your device to its factory default settings. This will erase all data, including files and downloaded apps.

In case the issue still occurs. Please follow this path to register your concern in Samsung Members Application Open Samsung Members Application > Support> Tap on error report > Type your query > Send.

Thank you for writing to us.
Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support.

I have enabled the following gestures in my mobile
enable all options in Motions and gestures.
then you will face the following two problems
1) Ring will get muted on movement of your walking while someone is called.
2) If you keep the mobile in pocket and when you are in travelling in car or bike, you may put your hands on your thigh and remove.
It will detect some action and tries to unlock device and after unsuccessful attempts it will get locked. There are many videos for this problem.

this is my experience wants to share with the other users.

To avoid this issue, I have done following changes
Disabled the following gestures
1) Double tap to turn on screen
2) Mute with gestures

Thanks for your share.

I've done the same. And solved my problem 95%. And I'm also planning to buy a wallet where I'll be able to put my phone inside that to make the phone stationary while inside my pocket on my movement.

HI -- am having the same problem with my A33 5G purchased in April 2022. Looks like it started after the latest android update on 6 dec 2024.
On any incoming or outgoing call, as soon the call is established (for incoming I swipe the green button) -- the screen swithces off - becomes black.  Am unable to end the call after talking - or activate my speaker - which I use regularly at home.
I just now factory reset the phone - and got it going -- but the problem still remains.
Looks like I need to roll back the latest update - and goback.  Is there anyway I can do this ??

Or do I need to go the Samsung service center ?

Samsung it is really pathetic, you are keeping the user locked out of the phone for hours and there is no option to reset during this time.shame on your for troubling the users with such pathetic features.
