It's because MTN owns that phone since you are paying the phone monthly.

Hi
That “administrator doesn’t allow uninstall” message usually means the app has device admin privileges or is installed as a system-managed app by MTN’s contract or Knox configuration (common on carrier devices). Let’s go step by step to see what can be done safely 👇
---
🔹 Step 1: Check if MyMTNApp has admin privileges
1. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → More security settings → Device admin apps
2. If you see MyMTNApp listed and toggled ON,
→ Turn it OFF
→ Then go back and try uninstalling it again from Settings → Apps → MyMTNApp → Uninstall
---
🔹 Step 2: Try disabling it (if uninstall is blocked)
If the “Uninstall” option is greyed out:
1. Go to Settings → Apps → MyMTNApp
2. Tap the three dots (⋮) at the top right
3. Choose Uninstall updates, then Disable
This removes its updates and stops it from running or showing up in the launcher.
---
🔹 Step 3: Check for carrier or management profile
1. Go to Settings → General management → Device management
or
Settings → Security → More security settings → Device admin apps / Work profiles
2. Look for anything like:
MTN Device Manager
Knox Enrollment Service
Carrier Services
If you find one, select it → Deactivate / Remove profile
⚠️ Note: removing a carrier profile may cause some contract features (like data tracking or MTN promos) to stop working.
---
🔹 Step 4: Last resort — Safe Mode uninstall
Sometimes carrier apps act protected while running normally:
1. Press and hold the Power button
2. Tap and hold Power off, then select Safe mode
3. In Safe mode, go to Settings → Apps → MyMTNApp → Uninstall
4. Restart your phone normally.
---
⚠️ If none of these work
Then your device has MTN firmware with the app baked in as a system app — it cannot be removed without:
Flashing the unlocked firmware (which voids warranty), or
Using ADB commands from a computer (advanced method, I can guide you through it safely if you want?)
