Try rebooting your phone or simply go to the setting

Make google as default app and change the default assistant to google

Go to: Settings -> tap on Apps -> tap on Google app -> enable it if it is disabled -> Open it -> tap on Google assistant.

Tap on Settings icon. Then tap on Google assistant & explore all features.

If you've installed, enabled Google & it's not functioning, then do power off, restart. See if it resolves problem.
