I'd actually recommend you to set up your fingerprint again because I also faced d same problem but it was solved once I registered the fingerprint again

Instead of adding different thumbs , you can add one finger multiple times . ( obviously 2 as you can add only three fingerprints ) . This will improve the chance of your fingerprint being recognised more efficiently .

Hello EvilPotato , these are previous generation optical scanners and hence do not respond sometimes .
OnePlus 7/7pro has next gen scanners and hence are very very fast and more accurate .
Its a common issue , but getting an under-display fingerprint scanner at this price is a very good deal . It feels good to scan your fingers through screen .
Even ultrasonic scanners as seen on S10 line up are not very fast . May be next gen optical and ultrasonic scanners will improve .
