I have a problem with my phone, it closes apps way too quickly and restarts when I come back...is this an issue with this smartphone? Or is there a setting that I didn't adjust? 😭

I use A16, RAM don't really close everything so fast and it never Auto restarts.

Hi
What you’re describing—apps closing quickly or the phone restarting when you come back—can happen on a Samsung A16 5G, but it’s usually not “normal behavior”. It’s often related to software settings, memory management, or, less commonly, hardware issues. Let’s go step by step:
---
1. Check RAM and Background App Management
Samsung phones have aggressive memory management, especially on entry-level/mid-range models like the A16 5G.
Go to Settings → Battery and Device Care → Memory
Check how much RAM is available. If it’s low, apps may be closed when you switch back to them.
Go to Settings → Apps → [Specific App] → Battery
Make sure “Optimize battery usage” is disabled for apps that keep closing.
Also, check Settings → Battery and Device Care → Battery → Background usage limits
Make sure the phone isn’t set to “Put unused apps to sleep” aggressively.
---
2. Disable “Sleeping Apps”
Samsung can automatically put apps to sleep to save battery:
1. Settings → Battery and Device Care → Battery → Background usage limits → Sleeping apps
2. Remove apps that are closing too quickly from this list.
---
3. Check for Software Updates
Sometimes app crashes happen because the OS or apps are outdated.
Settings → Software Update → Download and Install
---
4. Clear Cache of Apps
Settings → Apps → [App] → Storage → Clear Cache
This often helps apps that restart or freeze.
---
5. Restart in Safe Mode
This helps check if a third-party app is causing the problem.
1. Press and hold Power → Power Off
2. Tap and hold Power Off until Safe Mode appears → Tap Safe Mode
3. See if apps still close quickly.
If not, a third-party app is causing the issue. Uninstall recently installed apps.
---
6. Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If none of the above works, a reset can help fix deep software issues:
Settings → General Management → Reset → Factory Data Reset
⚠️ Backup your data first.
---
💡 Summary:
Most likely, this is RAM optimization / background app limits on the A16 5G. Adjusting battery optimization settings and sleeping apps usually solves it. Hardware issues are rare unless the phone has suffered physical damage or liquid exposure.
