Galaxy AHere’s what I found out, and what to expect / watch out for:
---
🔍 What the current status is
Samsung’s official rollout list includes the Galaxy A54 5G as one of the devices eligible for One UI 8.
The “One UI 8 Beta” program has been expanded to include the A54 in select regions.
In the global rollout roadmap, Samsung has stated that the stable One UI 8 rollout would begin around September 2025, starting with flagship models.
Many sources caution that actual availability will vary by region, carrier, and device variant (model/firmware region).
Some hands-on impressions of One UI 8 (on other devices) note only modest changes, with more polish, smoother animations, log video recording in Camera, etc.
So: you're not alone in waiting. It seems like you’re just in line for the regional/country-by-country rollout.

⚙️ Expected / reported improvements in One UI 8
From what’s been reported so far (on devices that already have One UI 8 or beta builds):
Feature / Improvement What’s changed / added
Visual polish & UI tweaks Smoother animations, refined UI transitions, some tweaks in system apps.
Log video recording One UI 8 adds support for log video recording in the Camera app (on devices that support it).
“Now Brief” / “Now Bar” / context / proactive suggestions More context-aware suggestions, proactive features, better integration of “Now” panels.
Security & system under-the-hood enhancements Better security, privacy, possibly performance improvements.
Stability, bug fixes, app tweaks Especially in beta 2 builds, issues (e.g. auto-complete in password fields) are being addressed.
However, it’s worth noting that many early reports say One UI 8 is more of an incremental / refinement update rather than a massive overhaul.

✅ What you can do / check
In Settings → Software update → Download and install, check if the update is available for your model/region.
Join the Samsung Members app / Beta Program (if your region allows). Sometimes access to beta builds gives early access.
Keep your device updated with monthly / security patches — this helps ensure your software base is ready when the major update comes.
Watch for announcements from Samsung South Africa / your carrier — they often control when updates are allowed in each region.
