I used to have a feature showing beneath my messages, or next to messages Delivered/Read and the colour would change to show read as in my image above. That has now disappeared. I only get read receipts now. What could be the problem?

Is this the default Messages app or Google messages

Make sure that Read receipts are enabled in Settings>Chat features>Read Receipts.

Also make sure that the chat feature is enabled.

Lastly, this feature only works for contacts that have chat enabled (RCS) since these are not sms Messages but RCS. Note that iPhone users do not have this so you won't see it when chating to them.

Nope. Still not saying read.

It sounds like the recipient might have disabled chat features or possibly switched to an unsupported device. I just tried it and it works.
