  • I have an A55 phone. I added an eSIM 8, but it doesn't have internet. Now my phone is asking me to update the SIM cards and is requesting internet access via the eSIM 8. However, it doesn't have internet, so I recommend updating. Neither SIM card is working.

Hello. Sorry to read this. I just started using eSIMs on my phone too. Can you connect to the internet via WiFi and do your update[s] that way?

A WiFi connection is usually the best option while adding or updating due to the need for stability as telco network based connections can be lost as the activates or deactivates SIMs.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Gulf Electronics regarding the SIM card issues on your Galaxy A55.

It appears your device is attempting to complete the registration of eSIM 8, but the lack of an active data connection is preventing both your physical SIM and eSIM from functioning correctly. To resolve this and restore your service, please follow these steps:

  • Connect to Wi-Fi: This is the most important step. Your phone requires an active internet connection to "handshake" with the carrier’s server to finalize the eSIM update. Please connect to a stable Wi-Fi network first.
  • SIM Card Manager: Once connected to Wi-Fi, go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager. Check if the "Update" prompt appears again. If not, try toggling the eSIM Off and then On again.
  • Set Primary Data: In the SIM manager, ensure that Primary Data is temporarily set to your physical SIM (if it has a data plan) or ensure the phone stays on Wi-Fi until the eSIM status shows as "Connected."
  • Reset Network Settings: If neither card starts working after connecting to Wi-Fi, go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings. Note: This will not delete your data, but it will refresh your cellular and eSIM configurations.
  • Check APN Settings: If the eSIM is active but has no internet, go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names and ensure the correct settings for your carrier are selected.

If the eSIM continues to fail, we recommend contacting your mobile network provider to ensure the eSIM profile for "eSIM 8" has been fully activated on their system.

Feel free to reach us if you need further technical support.
