We can pretty much say that Samsung has overcome the wide-notch solution that started with the iPhone X in 2017. While many other OEMs have received the backlash from customers that weren’t happy with this design choice, the Korean giant decided to avoid this design on their flagships. Instead, it started to bet in other solutions like the Infinity-O punch-hole display, or the waterdrop-like notches in the Infinity-V and Infinty-U solutions. We had only one Samsung smartphone sporting a more ambitious solution like a motorized pop-up camera – the Galaxy A80.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 was the only device in the company’s portfolio to feature a sliding, rotating camera. While there still no details regarding to a successor for this smartphone, a new Samsung device with a pop-up camera surfaced in a couple of leaked renders. The renders come straight from @Onleaks and SamMobile.

Unfortunately, there are no many details about this particular handset. However, it appears to be a mid-range phone considering the physical fingerprint scanner at the back. It also features a triple-camera array, that follows Samsung’s 2019 mid-range phone design. On the bottom, there is a USB-C port, and unfortunately, the 3.5mm headphone jack is nowhere to be seen. Although this handset lacks a cutout, it seems to have substantial bezels and chin.

Pop-up smartphones basically covered the market during the last year. This year, however, we’re seeing that companies are feeling more comfortable with punch-hole solutions. For that reason, it’s hard to believe that a new Samsung smartphone with this design solution will see the light of day. In the end, these renders may be based in a design concept.
