I have always wondered why is my internal 128gb storage is shown as 128gb on my Galaxy smartphone yet the Samsung EVO plus MicroSD card 256gb is shown as 239gb?
Samsung file manager
To me, there seems to be only one possible answer.
They are making the internal storage at the hardware level as 1024kb = 1mb and the MicroSD cards as 1000kb = 1 mb. And system software counting 1024kb as 1mb so the MicroSD card comes up short on storage.
Or, is there anything else?

We can only think of that. Its the way the data conversion is done for external storage. Manufactures calculate this as 256*1000*1000*1000 bytes which is roughly around 239 GB.

I know. Windows does that too. But they are consistent across all hardware.
