Galaxy A
If the fingerprint sensor on your Samsung Galaxy A16 isn’t working even after a restart, it’s usually one of a few common issues—software glitch, sensor obstruction, or enrollment problems. Work through these in order:
1. Check the basics first Clean the sensor (and your finger). Dust, oil, or moisture can block detection. Remove any screen protector or case that might interfere (especially if it covers the sensor area). Make sure your finger isn’t too dry or too wet. 2. Re-register your fingerprint
Sometimes the saved data gets corrupted.
Go to Settings → Biometrics & Security → Fingerprints Delete existing fingerprints Add them again, slowly and from different angles 3. Test in Safe Mode
This helps rule out third-party apps interfering.
Press and hold the power button Tap and hold “Power off” → enter Safe Mode Try the fingerprint sensor there
If it works in Safe Mode, some app is causing the issue. 4. Check for software updates Go to Settings → Software Update Install any pending updates (Samsung often fixes biometric bugs) 5. Reset settings (not full reset) Go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset all settings
This won’t delete your data but resets system configs. 6. Hardware check
If none of the above works:
The sensor might be physically damaged or disconnected Visit an authorized service center Quick diagnosis tip No vibration / no response at all? → likely hardware or driver issue “Fingerprint not recognized” error? → usually fingerprint data or sensor surface problem
If you want, tell me:
Is your sensor under-display or on the power button? What exactly happens when you try (no response vs error message)?
I can narrow it down more precisely.
