Hello!

Today I received my all new Galaxy A73 5G 8/256 gb black,Indian variant bought from Samsung Online Shop (22-10-2022). Delivery was on time and packing was good. I completed the setup and opened YouTube to see how good the screen is as compared to my old galaxy A71. And man I was disappointed. The video was lagging and stuttering. I played 3-4 videos on 2160p hdr 60fps, all lagged and stuttered. The same videos on my 2 year old galaxy A71 was very smooth. I then downloaded a 4k video, and tried playing via VLC on both the phones. God, the A73 refused to play whereas my old A71 smoothly played it without any hiccups. I thought may be it was some software issue. Tried everything - reinstalling YouTube, clearing memory, clearing junk files, reinstalling VLC, removing bloatware (Thanks Samsung), tried in safe mode, and lastly reset the whole device to factory new. Still no hope. I was on the latest software version and all apps were up to date.

Galaxy A73 stuttering and lagging

I have attached the stuttering video of A73, recorded in 1080p 60fps above. ( The video plays nice for first 3-4 seconds on A73 and starts stuttering )

Moreover I had purchased this device for 43k + 10k ( 2 year comprehensive protection plan ) = 53k ( Could have bought S22 )

Samsung, don't make me regret about this purchase.I was very happy with my A71 and so wanted to upgrade with A73.

I would request other members to also check if they are facing the same issue or not.

And if someone from Samsung is reading, then please help me ASAP.

Edit 1 - I have attached screenshot with GPU watch, in ideal condition both the cpu usage and gpu usage are around 25% when videos are playing smooth. But I observed the gpu usage fall to 8-9 %, which resulted in frame drops and choppy video. Why throttle :(. Or maybe it is device specific issue for me..

Mine works perfectly with 4K 60fps HDR video. Using A73 8/128 GB variant.

I usually watch 4K HDR, even in netflix, never faced such issues. Using S22 Ultra, Z Flip 4 and Samsung A73. Haven't faced any issue playing 604kHDR videos on Samsung A73. If you can send the video links you tried, I can cross check the same.

I checked your links, only the first one and the last one are 4k 60fps HDR. These are the same video I tried. I am attaching other videos too which I tried. All the videos had stuttering and FPS drop with GPU usage throttling.

Please check that when playing it is 2160p 60 HDR, I have seen YouTube changing the quality if we switch to landscape mode ( Don't know why they are doing this B.S & sometimes gets locked to 480p. I had to forcestop YT and start again)

Yes facing the issue in these videos you shared, works well in 1440p 60fps HDR, but in 2160p 60fps HDR feels choppy. But the links I shared worked perfectly even the 60 fps one. Not sure what's happening here.

Hardware acceleration, i.e GPU + CPU both crunches to decode. In our case during forced hardware acceleration, the GPU isn't somehow triggering & even if it is triggered it doesn't work for longer duration...
