Google has added two more Samsung handsets to the list of devices that support ARCore, the company’s software-based augmented reality (AR) platform. The recently launched Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 are now certified to deliver a good experience with AR applications.
Over a dozen of Samsung devices support ARCore. This includes the company’s Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagships from the last few years, as well as several A series and J series phones. The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J5 Pro received ARCore support earlier this year.

Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 receive ARCore support
ARCore is Google’s platform for building AR experiences for mobile devices. ARCore apps can superimpose virtual content on the real world when viewed through the handset’s camera. Users can move that virtual content simply by walking around with their device or using the sensors to detect movement. This is achieved by using ARCore’s motion tracking technology to determine both the position and orientation of the phone as it moves through space.
Since ARCore is a software-based feature, support can be rolled out for older devices as well. However, Google needs to check the quality of the camera and motion sensors before certifying a device. The CPU power and design architecture of the device is also tested to ensure that it performs as expected. Also, ARCore requires Android 7.0 or later.
The Galaxy A50 is powered by the Exynos 9610 SoC, whereas the Galaxy A30 runs on the Exynos 7904 chipset. Both devices come with Android Pie out of the box, and feature the same 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
