Galaxy A
Hello Samsung Support,
I’ve identified an unexpected difference in microphone behavior between two of my devices: - Devices tested: Galaxy A06 and Galaxy A24 - Software status: Both are fully updated (One UI and Android versions up to date, latest security patches applied). The A24 shows more Knox components than the A06, but both report healthy security status. - Test setup: I use a 3.5 mm audio jack “hardware mic blocker” (a plug with no mic/speaker connected) to physically prevent audio capture. This is an intentional, hardware-based privacy measure. - Steps to reproduce: 1) Open any voice recording app. 2) Start recording. 3) Insert the 3.5 mm plug (no mic/speaker connected). 4) Speak near the phone and observe the recording. - Expected result: When a 3.5 mm plug is inserted, the internal microphone should be disabled or audio input should be routed to the (non-existent) external mic, resulting in no recorded voice. - Actual result: - Galaxy A24: Works as expected. The internal mic is effectively blocked and no voice is recorded. - Galaxy A06: The device continues to record from the internal mic even with the 3.5 mm plug inserted. This is a privacy/security concern for me because I rely on a hardware method to prevent any app from capturing audio. I would like to know: - Is this behavior on the Galaxy A06 by design, or is it a defect? - If by design, is there a setting to force the internal mic to disable whenever a 3.5 mm plug is detected? - If it’s a defect, can you provide a firmware update or guidance to align the A06 behavior with the A24? I can provide screen recordings and device
