I cannot even register new fingerprints after updating my device and removing the old fingerprints.

issue has been solved try below method.. go to settings -> General Management -> Reset -> Reset Settings -> click on reset settings than try to add fingerprint.. this method helps 100%...

with this new update fingerprint alogarithm updated.thats why we need to do adding fingerprints carefully.after adding.its better and speed improvments in unocking via fingeprint.better improvement.
