Battery backup

All of sudden battery backup is really good on my s23 ultra

I to observed the same. Battery life improved alot with 8.5 beta. Let's hope it stays like that in the stable version

I am noticing significant battery draining fast in the base version.

It might be a bit power hungry because of all the testing going on. So, don't be too surprised if your battery drains a little faster than usual. Once the stable version is out, hopefully, that issue will be resolved.
