Introduction to Nightography
It is not easy to take good-quality photos with a smartphone camera in low-light setups, at night or in a dark room.
Low-light conditions require sufficient light to reach the image sensor to get good photos. To that end, sensors in Galaxy cameras are evolving to let in more light.
In addition, it is possible to get a clear image without much glare from lights, even in night lighting, using the developments in lens technology.
The feature in question enables you to click bright and clear images in low light conditions by continuously improving upon image processing technology.
Nightography refers to this feature. The term is a combination of ‘Night’ and ‘Photography’. [1]
Night Solution
When you turn on the camera in low light, you will see a moon-shaped icon at the bottom of the screen. The camera will automatically apply the ‘night solution’ to your captured shot/s.
The camera takes multiple shots with different levels of exposure once you press the shutter button.
The captured shots are combined into a single bright and noise-reduced photo through multi-frame processing.
The AI-ISP (Image Signal Processor) based on S/W deep learning does some post-processing on this combined version of the image. It effectively removes any static and minimizes the loss of detail in the picture. The resultant photo has good clarity and brightness.
Use of Nightography
Portrait mode
Night solution not only works in photo mode but in portrait mode too, allowing you to take bright and clear portraits in low light conditions.
Night mode
In Night mode, you can set the time to capture a little longer and click photos with lesser noise.
You can shoot with a more drawn-out capture time sans unsteadiness by affixing the Galaxy camera to a tripod.
Front Camera
You can click clear and bright selfies in low light conditions with the front camera, using the lighting effects displayed on the screen.
