Its just 2 years left for #Note8 and it will has no android 10, why is that ? It least your devices must has upgrades for 4 years. Or you want us to change or devices for each year to keep samsung has more money ?
Android 9 still is good there is nathing wrong with it, your note 8 is running good may if upgrade has some effect one the system so better have your device running with the suitable Android than upgrade and face difficulty
