App archive feature is coming

Samsung One UI 7 is adopting android 15's app archiving feature. With this feature we can save storage space by archiving unused applications.

App Archiving will let you free up space by temporarily removing unused apps. When an app is archived, its software, permissions, temporary files, and notifications are cleared, but the app icon and data remain intact.

When needed, you can easily restore the app without losing your personal settings or progress. Considering you have downloaded a big game but haven’t played it in months, you can archive it to save storage while keeping your saved game progress safe.

I don't understand how archiving will free up space, and then when u restore it, you will get everything back. But it's definitely an interesting concept.

I think it will compress the app's data to free up the storage

Temporary files and cache will be removed and the user data and app's data will be compressed

It delete's all app data except core details required to maintain your details, as you will reinstall it downloads the app and you can use it as you did before without logging in . It's an underrated feature, I tried it in my pixel 7 and seems to be really useful when you have apps which you don't use much but is required.
