Well,

I'm using Mx Player and yes.. Mx player is quite popular because of codec and online media. But Pros always comes with Cons(Ads Ads and Ads)

Mx Player is owned by Times Internet and private app.

Looking beautiful and simple as always from 2007, Nothing change in UI.

VLC started by French students(now opensource and 20 countries contribute)

Look ugly and old UI in past, Not now.

I recently join beta version and install new VLC and it's impress me.

I know old vlc also amazing and support almost every format and codecs.But now its look Beautiful and Cool.

MX Player

VLC :

VLC really provide clean UI and no Ads 😍😍, also VLC can handle heavy video format and codec inbuild, not like to MX player.. install Neon codec and other for your device.

The awesome part is Opensource, So you can change and customize your own vlc.

Its not joke bro, vlc has many issues.

One of the issue is it doesn't load subtitle when you open video from file manager.
When you pause video and lock screen, it doesn't play after unlocking screen in single tap. Mx player and samsung video player both plays in single tap.

Last time I checked, both vlc and mx player had issues with resume from last seen position.
When vlc shows you popup, do you want to resume from last seen position? press back button. Next time you open same video, it plays from start.

huh !! i can see subtitle in video after opening from file manager.. are you sure.. you're using latest vlc.

I installed both app long back. After I found these issues I uninstalled both the apps. After that I am using samsung video player only.

Vlc 3.3 beta 7 still doesnt load subtitles if video is launched from file manager. first screen shot is samsung video player and second one is vlc.
Edit: there is subtitle file in the same folder. Not the hard coded subtitles.
Does not load means automatically when video is opened.

in samsung it takes sometime.. i think it takes time to finish current subtitle( which is in mid air)

You need to clear the data of vlc player. It already remembers the subtitle file. It does not automatically load subtitles.

I just checked after installing vlc beta. Anyway good if its working for you. Enjoy vlc player.
