Hello all,

Samsung always claims are safe based on called "Knox". It is always mentions in bootup screen, payment screen, secure folder screen and account in settings.

But is it really safe for apps?? which is a very basic feature.

We all are using apps once we got the phone in hand. Some has 20, 30 or more apps and games and some of them has their own app lock but not all.

Why can't samsung able to provide app lock feature which this feature was introduced 3 - 4 years ago?? This feels like apple.

What are your thoughts about it, share it in the comments.

Thank you

Samsung intentionally uses "Secure Folder" instead of a basic app lock for architectural security reasons.

A standard third-party app lock only creates a superficial overlay screen that can easily be bypassed or crashed. Secure Folder, however, uses Samsung Knox hardware-level encryption. It creates a completely isolated sandbox environment inside the processor. This protects your data even if the phone is rooted or physically tampered with.

If you want to lock your apps, you have two highly secure options:

* **Use Secure Folder:** Move or clone your sensitive apps into Secure Folder (Settings > Security and privacy > Secure Folder). It acts as a locked vault protected by Knox encryption.
* **Use AltZLife (On compatible F/M series devices):** This feature allows you to quickly switch between public and private app profiles by simply double-pressing the power button.

No system-level security is compromised without it; Secure Folder actually offers much stronger protection than a traditional app lock.

If this breakdown clarifies how Knox protects your data, please tap "Accept Solution" and follow my profile for more direct technical insights!

I agree Secure folder is like a vault storing sensitive images, documents and many more but why they have include app?
Just a built-in app lock feature is enough to secure all app needed.

That is the exact difference between app security and data isolation!

A built-in app lock only places a digital "gate" over the main app. If an attacker bypasses that single gate or compromises the app's root folder, all your data is instantly exposed because it sits in the same shared storage directory.

Secure Folder doesn't just lock the app—it creates a completely separate, hardware-encrypted sandbox environment. By cloning the app inside Secure Folder:
• The data is fully isolated from your main phone storage.
• You can run two completely different accounts with independent data sets.
• Even if your main phone storage is breached, the Secure Folder partition remains heavily encrypted by Samsung Knox hardware.

An app lock protects your screen; Secure Folder protects your actual database.

If this structural breakdown helps clarify things, please tap "Accept Solution" and follow me for more quick tech tips!
