Solution - Gemini app crashing on 8.5

Many users are facing problem with Gemini app. This app crashes repeatedly after updating device to One UI 8.5 To solve the issue follow these steps.

1. Force stop Gemini & clear data

2. Force stop Google app & vlear data.

3. rollback both Gemini and Google apps by uninstalling updates.

Now launch Gemini app.It should work without crashing.

Please perform the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps, these may help in resolving your concern.

1. Update the App

Open the Google Play Store.

2. Search for the Gemini app.

If an update is available, tap Update to install the latest version.

3. Clear App Cache and Data

Go to Settings > Apps > Gemini > Storage.

Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Restart your device and try using the app again.

4. Reinstall the App

Uninstall the Gemini app from your device.

Reinstall it from the Google Play Store.

Ensure you're signed in with the same Google Account used during the initial setup.

5. Check Internet Connection

Ensure your device has a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).

Test the connection by opening a website or another app that requires internet access.

6. Verify Account Permissions

Go to Settings > Apps > Gemini > Permissions.

Ensure all necessary permissions (e.g., storage, location, etc.) are enabled.

The rollback is working and app doesn't crash which means there are some compatibility issues in UI 8.5 and versions of Google & Gemini apps that are crashing on 8.5. So you can check tha same on your test devices.

There is one more workaround. You don't have to rollback the update. Keep both the apps - Google and Gemini updated.

Gemini will not open by tapping on the icon as usual (unexpected and unresolved bug). However, it you press and hold the power button to invoke assistant and then drag the pill button up, full Gemini app will open as usual.

Now you can update both Google & Gemini app to the latest versions. Both app working fine with latest versions. Just check if Play services update is available then update that too.
