With the release of Android Q, Google decided to name OS version as 10 and parted away from dessert names. One reason being simplicity and other being that it was difficult to find a dessert starting with Q.

In an interview, it was mentioned that they would have gone with "Queen Cake". Internal code files carry the initials "qt" suggesting "Quince Tart".
