All expensive and mid range devices with amoled screens are getting Green line issues (actually its blue, red or green depends) after applying OTA updates.

For example S21 series,s20 series,m51, nowadays m52 and some other devices from samsung, while many devices from OnePlus are also being reported having these issues.

But the strange fact is that IPS LCD don't have these issues even after getting OTA updates after 2 yrs.

So is this an issue of quality control of samsung amoled panels these days, cause now from 14 series onwards apple adopted samsung displays and now apple too is a victim to this.

But if you notice not all devices are getting display issues only some devices while others are happily using the device with no issues, I still know some of my friends still happy with OnePlus 8 Pro even after applying latest OTA update.

The issue is caused by Software. The RGB colours of an amoled display works based on the amount of voltage given to the respective R, G and B pixels.

When the right amount of voltage is given, the respective pixels will light up. The amount of voltage needed for each colour is different. And this is controlled by the software.

When a software update is buggy, the amount of voltage given to particular pixels will vary. Eg: when a very high voltage than what is needed is given to the green pixels, all the green pixels will get damaged and will either shut down or remain constantly lit up. Same goes for the other colours as well. So the damaged pixels in a particular column is what we see as green lines.

I agree to this bro,But OLED displays from LG are rarely getting affected by OTA updates.(eg :- Motorola and Apple uses LG displays mostly).

Are you talking about apple,

They do use LG panels on 14 series but only 5% of units have LG displays, rest is dominated by samsung displays.

We can't go to an apple store and ask them "You Know what I need a 14 pro Max with LG panel".

I am using Samsung phone for almost 5 yrs... previously i was using s9plus... then i upgraded to s20 plus...I got the same problem after updating my phone to android 13... i have contacted customer service they said that i have to replace my screen and i have to pay 19k for that... so they are not going to provide any solution... then i searched about this problem online then i got to know that there is a flex cable bond in the phone that is damaged which can be fixed by a local repair shop and it only cost me 4k and now my phone is working properly... so there isn't any problem in the screen only the flex need to be changed... and 1 thing is for sure that this is my last Samsung device... i will not going to buy any Samsung device in the future ever... either would switch to pixel or iPhone

Aye aye! I am with you on that. I don't think I will be either. First they eradicate my life long passion (the note series) and my last note device. Note 20 ultra just out of the blue has a green line. And so far not many has been forthcoming. Everyone is recommending changing the screen. I should prolly change the flex cable too and see if it works. Costs around 20 usd to get one online and then I can fix it too.
