And i know that it is not difficult for Samsung to provide udate free of cost

Atleast security updates should be provided. OS update mayebe difficult to give because of hardware limitations.

It's more difficult to provide updates than we think. It is good to see Samsung is pushing It's limits when it comes to Android upgrade. Hope it touches 5 year mark like Apple does. Apple can provide updates to their older devices because they do not make as many models as Samsung. They also charge you extra for their device and want you to stay on their OS and pay for their services. Hope this gets better and we can get updates for longer.

Yes, you are right but just think how much work it would need to optimize the new Android Update for older hardware with already degraded battery. If you think from the OEM here Samsung 's perspective they will need to spend a lot to do this optimization work for a device which is already sold and not generating any more revenue. In their perspective they want you to sell your old device and buy a new one. That is what going to give them money.
